The assignment:
The class has to team up and start a literary scavenger hunt of English classics on the internet. They will have an hour to find all the information they want about great English novels, English authors, theatre plays whatever they want. They will get a list of some classic English books and some English authors, they can use those but they also have to find at least 5 authors and 5 books on their own. They can use all the information they find, for example about the personal life of the authors, the books it selves, or just the names. When they have all the information they want, they have to make questions about them with the information included. After that, they will have an other hour to create an interactive powerpoint based on the research. Then they will present it in front of the class and the class and teacher will vote for the best presentation. The decision will be based on the information, the question, how the PowerPoint is made, the design, the quality and how they present it.

about the video

when I read a book, Im gone, my mind is somewhere else, I am somewhere else.
that is what they are trying to say in the video, you train your imagination with books and literature. when you read a story, you imagine how the charactures look, you imagine where they live and in some moments you are those charactures. with visual things there is less imagination, everything you need to know is right in front of you. but what is the fun of that? books remains to be the largest source for information and if we would take more care of them we would have so much more knowlegde than now. of course there are emotions and feelings in films and pictures, but those are not your emotions and not your feelings. with reading and writing they become your feelings and your emotions. as a teacher I think it is important to stimulate reading and writing because it is so important in so many ways, not only for the imagination and your emotions but what about the knowlegde that is hidden in most books, like difficult words or even grammar. literature has always been the most important way to communicate and I think it will always be that way, no televisions or computers will change that.

video

the theme is literature, English literature of course.
I have found a couple of sites that I would to share with you guys

http://guides.lib.udel.edu/content.php?pid=163874&hs=a
this first one is great because it is like a libraby but then online, you can find biographies, books or e-books, the critism on the books, sources, websites, newspapers.
so when you want to do a lesson about literature, or you want them to read a good book or you want to let them do research about literature you can use this link.

http://www.bibliomania.com/0/0/frameset.html
this is a library, there are over 2.000 books on this site in English. so when you want your students to read a chapter of a book and do some questioning about it, you can search a good book on this site and very easy print it.

http://www.loc.gov/homepage/lchp.html
this is a site where there are no books, but more biographies about the country of England and America, which can be very interesting if you want the students to know more about the country, there are texts about the arts, sports and leisure, history, politics etc.
